Invicta FC presented it's third Phoenix Series event on March 6th from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Phoenix Series is an eight woman tournament where the first two rounds are one round bouts with the finals being three rounds. Also Julija Stoliarenko defeated Lisa Verzosa in an incredible fight to become the new bantamweight champion. Round one saw Stoliarenko landed some very hard kicks and punches that had Verzosa hurt and in trouble and then she looked for submissions on the ground. From then on it was four rounds of back and forth action with both fighters bleeding badly, Stoliarenko from her nose and Verzosa from a really bad cut. In the end, two of the three judges sided with Stoliarenko. Here are all your results and our Of The Night Awards.
1. Bantamweight Quarter-Finals: Serena DeJesus (1-1) defeated Kerri Kenneson (3-2) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 DeJesus.
2. Bantamweight Quarter-Finals: Taylor Guardado (0-0) defeated Claire Guthrie (1-0) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Guardado.
3. Bantamweight Quarter-Finals: Hope Chase (2-1) defeated Julia Ottolino (1-0) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Chase.
4. Bantamweight Quarter-Finals: Taneisha Tennant (2-0) defeated Brittney Victoria (3-1) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Tennant.
5. Bantamweight Reserve: Kelly Clayton (1-2) defeated Florina Moeller (1-1) via Tapout (Rear Naked Choke) at 4:51 of Round 1.
6. Bantamweight Reserve: Mitzi Merri (2-1) defeated Morgan Hickam (1-2) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Merry.
7. Bantamweight Semi-Finals: Taylor Guardado (0-0) defeated Serena DeJesus (1-1) via Split Decision (10-9/9-10/10-9). We scored it 10-9 DeJesus.
8. Bantamweight Semi-Finals: Taneisha Tennant (2-0) defeated Hope Chase (2-1) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Tennant.
9. Strawweight: Kay Hansen (6-3) defeated Liana Pirosin (7-4) via Unanimous Decision (30-27/30-27/30-26). We scored it 30-27 Hansen.
10. Bantamweight Finals: Taneisha Tennant (3-0) defeated Taylor Guardado (0-1) via Unanimous Decision (30-27/30-27/30-27). We scored it 29-28 Tennant.
11. Bantamweight Title: Julija Stoliarenko (9-3-1) defeated Lisa Verzosa (5-1) via Split Decision (46-49/48-46/49-46). We scored it 49-45 Stoliarenko.
