UFC 254 took place October 24th from UFC Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In women's action Lauren Murphy made her claim for a flyweight title shot with a victory over Liliya Shakirova. Round one saw Murphy stalking her down landing punches. In round after trading punches with Murphy getting the better of it, the fight went to the ground and Murphy secured the choke for the tap. Earlier Miranda Maverick won her UFC debut defeating Liana Jojua. Round one started with Jojua landing some good punches. Then they really began exchanging and during the exchange Maverick landed an elbow that opened a cut on Jojua's nose. Between rounds the doctor stopped the fight giving Maverick the win.
