Invicta FC debuted it's Rising Phoenix Series on May 2nd. The format is an eight woman tournament with one round fights in the first two rounds and a three round fight in the finals. For this first one the stakes were raised as it was also for the promotions Strawweight Title. Here are all your results and our Of The Night Awards.
1. Quarter-Finals: Kailin Curran (5-6) defeated Sunna Davidsdottir (3-1) via Split Decision (10-9/9-10/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Curran.
2. Quarter-Finals: Julianna Lima (10-5) defeated Danielle Taylor (10-5) via Split Decision (9-10/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Lima.
3. Quarter-Finals: Brianna Van Buren (6-2) defeated Manjit Kolekar (11-3) via Tapout (Armbar) at 3:20 of Round 1.
4. Quarter-Finals: Sharon Jacobson (6-4) defeated Amber Brown (7-6) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Jacobson.
5. Alternate Bout: Alyssa Krahn (5-2) defeated Itzel Esquivel (4-2) via Split Decision (9-10/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Krahn.
6. Semi-Finals: Brianna Van Buren (7-2) defeated Juliana Lima (10-6) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Van Buren.
7. Semi-Finals: Kailin Curran (6-6) defeated Sharon Jacobson (6-5) via Unanimous Decision (10-9/10-9/10-9). We scored it 10-9 Jacobson.
8. Strawweight: Magdalena Sormova (8-1) defeated Kay Hansen (5-3) via Split Decision (28-29/29-28/29-28). We scored it 29-28 Hansen.
9. Finals: Brianna Ban Buren (8-2) defeated Kailin Curran (6-7) via Tapout (Rear Naked Choke) at 3:49 of Round 2.
