UFC's next Contender Series card took place September 1st from UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event Melsik Baghdasaryan took a decision from Dennis Buzukja. Round one saw Baghdasaryan use his striking to take the round, landing hard and frequent shots. Buzukja bounced back in round two using clinch work and takedowns to take the round but in round three Baghdasaryan bounced back and again used his striking to take the round and the fight. 1. Lightweight: Tucker Lutz (10-1) defeated Chase Gibson (9-5) via Unanimous Decision (30-27/30-27/30-27). We scored it 30-27 Lutz.
2. Light Heavyweight: William Knight (8-1) defeated Cody Brundage (5-1) via TKO at 2:23 of Round 1.
3. Bantamweight: Ronnie Lawrence (6-1) defeated Jose Johnson (11-6) via Unanimous Decision (30-27/30-27/30-27). We scored it 30-26 Lawrence.
4. Flyweight: Jimmy Flick (15-5) defeated Nate Smith (6-1) via Tapout (Arm Triangle) at 3:15 of Round 3.
5. Featherweight: Melsik Baghdasaryan (5-1) defeated Dennis Buzukja (4-2) via Unanimous Decision (30-27/29-28/29-28). We scored it 29-28 Baghdasaryan.
