Dern fell throwing a kick and Markos made the mistake of going down with her into her guard, from there it was only a matter of time before Dern got an armbar for the round one tap. Earlier Mayra Bueno Silva did the same as Dern and got a first round armbar over Mara Romero Borella. The fight went down and Borella hung out in her guard and appeared to not be aware of the armbar before it was too late. Also Jessica-Rose Clark scored a win over Sarah Alpar. UFC was back at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada for another installment of Contender Series. In women's action boxer turned MMA fighter Danyelle Wolf took a decision from Taneisha Tennant. Round one saw Wolf hurting her with punches but Tennant had a big bounce back in round two and had Wolf hurt and in trouble. It all came down to round three which saw both land some good strikes followed by Wolf looking for a guillotine which seemed fairly tight and held on to it for some time. UFC Fight Night took place September 12th from UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event Michelle Waterson took a split decision from Angela Hill in a great fight. Early it was Hill's striking giving her the early lead, landing harder and more frequent shots. In round three Waterson got a takedown and did damage and really swung the momentum as she took over and got the decision. Earlier Roxanne Modafferi scored a win over Andrea Lee by decision in a close fight that her takedowns seemed to make the difference in. Also Sabina Mazo defeated Justine Kish. Kish took the first two rounds outworking her and landing more punches. In round three Mazo dropped her with a head kick and with about a minute left got the choke and the win.
