The latest Contenders Series took place September 8th from UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event Tafon Nchukwi scored a vicious knockout of Al Matavao. Round one saw Nchukwi landing the harder shots and having Matavao backing up, although Matavao did land some of his own. In round two Nchukwi picked up where he left off before putting him out with a head kick. Here are all your results and our Of The Night Awards.
1. Middleweight: Aliaskhab Khizriev (13-0) defeated Henrique Shiguemoto (13-4-1) via Tapout (Rear Naked Choke) at :50 of Round 1.
2. Bantamweight: Drako Rodriguez (7-1) defeated Mana Martinez (6-2) via Technical Submission (Triangle Choke) at 2:22 of Round 1.
3. Middleweight: Phil Hawes (8-2) defeated Khadhimurat Bestaev (10-4) via TKO at 1:18 of Round 1.
4. Lightweight: Sherrard Blackledge (5-0) defeated Cameron Church (4-1) via Unanimous Decision (30-27/30-27/29-28). We scored it 30-27 Blackledge.
5. Light Heavyweight: Tafon Nchukwi (4-0) defeated Al Matavao (8-3) via KO at 2:01 of Round 2.
