Duel For Domination 6 Report
This was my first time seeing a Duel For Domination card. It was an all amateur card. The card was evenly matched. No fights were you could say that the two guys did not belong in the cage together. The only thing on the negative side was the commentary. In a couple fights, the commentators were openly rooting for certain fighters including in the heavyweight bout one of them saying "I'm biased" and cheering as if he had won the lottery when his guy won. Commentators are there to be objective not to root on certain fighters, that is what the fans are for. The same commentator also made a very inappropriate O.J. Simpson knife comment. Outside of that though, I was impressed with the show and how it was run and would be willing to watch again.

I was the commentator in question of the heavyweight bout. I was cheering the comeback, not particularly so much that Cardinal won. Had the reverse outcome happened and Reyes had the come from behind win in manner, the same due diligence would have been paid. Yes I claimed bias on air, because I do know Jeremy, but I also prefaced after that the reaction was due to the quality of the comeback. I also was extremely complimentary of Reyes performance during and after with the same enthusiasm. Also, if you checked commentary out during the other fights, especially in the title wins, I sold it up with the same enthusiasm; many of whom I have no affiliation with. These guys and gals deserve the recognition and to have the accomplishment of their wins sold up. If that is cheering, so be it.
ReplyDeleteAlso the OJ joke was "I haven't seen someone move this fast since OJ was in the Bronco." Sorry if the comment put you off, but am glad you enjoyed the event otherwise.
I can understand bias, I have to cover fights that sometimes people from my gym are fighting in, but I keep that cheering to myself. Because if I am there covering and start rooting for someone I would hate for the fighter to be thiking "the guy covering this wants me to lose". I am not saying the commentary was horrible, it is a skill which is why I have passed on offers to commentate certain bouts, I am just personally of the opinion that cheering is wrong. YOu are good at what you do, just didn't care for the cheering
ReplyDeleteScott is one of the very best is the business, he makes me so proud every week as he hosts my radio show as well.
