Bellator 224 took place July 12th from Winstar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma. In women's action, Julia Budd defended her featherweight title with a first round finish of Olga Rubin. Early on both fighters were trying to find their range landing occasional shots. But Budd landed a hard kick to the body that hurt Rubin and had her backing up. Budd followed with punches and Rubin was done forcing the ref to stop it. Earlier, Juliana Velasquez made her claim for a flyweight title shot with a dominating win over Kristina Williams. Round one saw Velasquez landing hard shots that hurt Williams. Round two Williams seemed off to a better start until Velasquez again hurt her and the ref had to stop it. Also winning in female bouts were Arelene Blencowe with a quick first round finish of Amanda Bell and Bruna Ellen in a decision over Elina Kallionidou.
