Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder by Jaime Filer

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

Well, I've been away, busy as ever, but I've been sticking to my diet and training (cardio is another story, lol)

I recently came back from a 5 day trip to Vancouver, BC, Canada. I was there for a cousin's wedding, and I had an amazing time. The trip wasn't without its ups and downs though. The first, was the stress of being away from my home for 5 days. It's one thing to take a day trip to Buffalo, it's another to leave the province. So I was paranoid about traveling, buying groceries, jet lag, holding water, etc. My fears were quelled when I landed, found a nearby grocery store, and DIDN'T hold water after the flight :-P

I brought both my food scale and weight scale. I also brought my cooler everywhere we went. I must've seemed like a crazy person.

The next challenge came when I didn't complete all my cardio. My goal is to burn 2200 calories through cardio every week. Last week I didn't hit my target because I went to New York for 3 days. And this week, I didn't manage because I was so intent on sleeping in, and maximizing tourist time, that I did only half my required amount.

Lastly, it was the obvious hurdle of family gatherings and food. We had an "out of towners" dinner Saturday night, a family brunch Sunday, and then the wedding Sunday night. My advice from my ever-so-brilliant coach was to "nip at veggies, and subtract any food you eat from your last Tupperware." Believe it or not, I DID!!! I actually brought a Tupperware to the wedding (no one saw), and then only ate part of it after doing the caloric "mental math" in my head for the wedding meal.

All in all, I survived. I was down 1.5lbs for the week, though I was supposed to be down a whole 2lbs. Alls good though. I'm looking tighter, feeling better and more confident, and ready to rock the hell out of these shows in 4.5 and 7.5 weeks.

Next blog coming next week with updated pics!
